fearless city pigeons

in the last year i have been to london 3 times. guess how many of those times a PIGEON FLEW INTO MY HEAD???

no, not just 1 time that would not be grounds for posting.

no, not 3, that would be a sign from the gods that i should not consider moving there.

yes, 2 times!! once in the back of the head and i swear a claw probably touched me. the other time was on tuesday when a wing touched my face. my face! a wing! of a dirty city pigeon.

a greek told me that it is supposed to be good luck. i think he was just trying to make me feel better while stifling laughter.

Oh my gosh Lara! I know that around here, and by here I mean superstition central (teehee) - it is considered good luck if you are pooped on by a seagull. In some crazy way, that must be related to the "luck" of a pigeon's wing touching you.
And if not, at least you didn't get poo on your head :)

when big boobs magee calls you we will know for sure if it is good luck or not!!

all birds are vile...pigeons are the vilest of them all, so all i have to say about that is EEEEEWWWWWWWW. having something that gross come in contact with your head is most certainly not a sign of luck.

good luck with the job...

i TOTALLY agree with you k on the birds. they are really gross. and the worst part of them are their feet, their beak, the way they walk, and the way they spastically flutter when they try to take off when surrounded by people. in that order. but the scariest part is the last one, cause that is when they seem to be coming, right towards my head!

i am shuddering just recalling it.

i was once reduced to a huddled screaming heap 'o kristen in the middle of a town square in jalisco due to the sudden spooking of about 600 pigeons. all i could do was dive to the ground and protect my neck and face (and of course scream) as they all came flying "en masse" toward me.
worst.day.ever.

i bet you that i have been in that very same square (in guadalajara??) where they are those old men and kids feeding them so they congregrate en masse. d.i.s.g.u.s.t.i.n.g.

and have you ever gotten a closer look at a mexican city pigeon? they are missing claws, feet, eyes, parts of wings...

but i have never in all my mexican square days been HIT by one of them flying through the air whilst terrifying me.

glad to know i have a fellow phobic of the birds.

ick.
